Chris Haggerty focuses his practice on intellectual property law. Mr. Haggerty has over 14 years of experience serving in roles in both private practice and as in-house counsel. Mr. Haggerty practiced as a senior associate at one of the nation’s leading law firms headquartered in Atlanta and functioned as general counsel – IP for a technology-based company, also headquartered in Atlanta.

Mr. Haggerty has extensive experience in identifying, evaluating, and developing intellectual property in the areas of patent, trademarks, and copyright. In his in-house role, Mr. Haggerty was instrumental in expanding the company’s initial patent portfolio of six patents to a portfolio of over two-hundred patents today. As a registered patent attorney, Mr. Haggerty has experience in drafting and prosecuting patents in a number of different technology areas such as computer systems and software, metallurgy, mechanical devices, and business methods.

Mr. Haggerty received his J.D., with honors, in 2004 from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he also received a certificate of specialization in intellectual property law. He received his M.B.A. from Indiana University in 1999 and a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering in 1991 from Virginia Tech. During law school, Mr. Haggerty served as a member of the Saul Lefkowitz IP Moot Court Team. He has also served as guest lecturer at the Emory School of Law.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Haggerty worked in a number of different engineering and management roles with LTV Steel. During law school, Mr. Haggerty had his own consulting business in which he assisted clients in software development, programming, and implementation of complex systems related to automated manufacturing and process control.

Mr. Haggerty is a current board member of the Georgia IP Alliance, and a member of Atlanta’s IP Inn of the Court. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is admitted to practice law in both Georgia and Illinois.
